Pharmaceutical photography is a whole different ballgame. The locations can be anywhere in the world and the teams are usually much larger, as are the technical restrictions and requirements. My approach is the same as with any other job, I just have a few more things to keep in mind.
Pre-production is especially important, as every minute of the day is more or less accounted for by the producer, the client, and me. Since pharmaceutical projects revolve around people, they often involve a lot of talent. Add to that the grand locations or public spaces that are highly dependent on lighting conditions and the shoots have to be pre-orchestrated to perfection–and that’s exactly the kind of challenge I thrive on.
